TSA Confiscates Nail Clippers from U.S. Soldier But Lets Him Keep Assault Rifle
This pretty much says it all. The state of the TSA is...fucked. Via Cory Doctorow at BoingBoing, an anonymous U.S. soldier returning from Afghanistan has shared the tale of going through airport security with 233 of his heavily armed, assault rifle- and machine gun-toting colleagues. While they were able to board with a veritable aresenal, nail clippers were simply not acceptable.
TSA Guy: They can be used as a weapon.
Soldier: [touches butt stock of the rifle] But this actually is a weapon. And I'm allowed to take it on.
TSA Guy: Yeah but you can't use it to take over the plane. You don't have bullets.
Soldier: And I can take over the plane with nail clippers?
TSA Guy: [awkward silence]
Me: Dude, just give him your damn nail clippers so we can get the f**k out of here. I'll buy you a new set.
Soldier: [hands nail clippers to TSA guy, makes it through security]
No word on whether the soldiers had to go through the nude scanners, but we're thinking the sight of America's nail-clipper-less nekkid fighters will have any potential terrorists scared straight. Except not really.
