Two Local Elections Still Being Recounted
You may be looking at the late vote recounts involving Ted Stevens in Alaska and Al Franken in Minnesota and thinking, well, thank God we're beyond all that. Don't sniff too soon. The Observer reports today that they're still sifting the Frank Padavan-James Gennaro State Senate race results (Padavan's dwindling lead is at the moment 502 votes with over 8,000 absentee ballots left to examine); and upstate, the Eric Massa-Randy Kuhl Congressional race, which Democratic challenger Massa was leading when a court order stopped the count and impounded the ballots (and which has, for some reason, about 10,000 absentee votes), will start its recount Monday.
