Unsafe Balcony Buildings Identified: Main Offenders Are Upper East Side and the Bronx

Earlier this week we found out that the Department of Buildings had declared balconies unsafe in 16 apartment buildings in New York City, following the death of a 24-year-old man who fell from a balcony on 39th Street due to a broken railing.

The actual building addresses have now been released, which should make you breathe a sigh of relief if you live in a balconied building that is not listed here, and should make you stay inside until the balconies are checked if you do.

Because in terms of ways to die, falling from a 24th floor building when you just stepped out to enjoy the skyline and a hot cup of coffee is really pretty awful.

PS: Brooklyn, your balconies rock.
