Voice Choice: Stars in the Margin
Martha Plimpton and Lucy Wainwright Roche both come from a just-left-of-center pedigree in their respective theater and music worlds, but if the lineup of special guests at their combined effort, Stars in the Margin, is any indication, their personal connections reach much farther than famous parents. (Granted, folk singer Lucy’s folks, Loudon Wainwright III and Suzzy Roche, are two of those special guests.) The MySpace pals turned reality friends offer a night of what Martha calls “musical mixed media,” with appearances by good buds from Broadway and TV (August: Osage County’s Jim True-Frost, formerly Prez on The Wire), indie music (jazz singer Julian Fleischer), and the karaoke bar (At Least It’s Pink’s Bridget Everett). At 9:30pm, Zipper Factory, 336 W 37th St., $15-$20
