Wanna Stalk a Sports Star? amNY Has Tips!
Here's another way pro athletes are like cops: most of them live out of town. amNY reports that "only 35 of the 200 players" on our local teams live in New York City. One of them is the Mets' David Wright, who maintains "a spacious $6 million penthouse suite with outdoor space at Infinity Flats, a new development at 21st Street and Broadway."
amNY also tells us that Yankees Jason Giambi and Jorge Posada "reside in ritzy, full-service Upper East Side high-rises"; Hideki Matsui and Derek Jeter live at Trump Plaza. The Rangers have the highest percentage of New York domiciled players -- 18 out of 22.
And did you know Derek Jeter goes to the Starbucks at 89th and First nearly every day? Stalkers, get a Venti and settle in for a star-hunt! But be warned -- Andy, a barista therein, describes Jeter's way of dealing with insistent fans: "If he's not in the mood to talk, he just doesn't talk." That's cool -- you can do scenes from The Sixth Sense with him till the cops arrive.
