Weiner's in the Race, And His Campaign Ad Is Remarkably Unsexy
"Look, I made some big mistakes, and I know I let a lot of people down. But I've also learned some tough lessons," the former congressman, who resigned in 2011 after leaking an online photo of his erection, says more than a minute-and-a-half in.
Otherwise, the ad sticks to a reliable, if staid, formula that champions middle-classness, affordable rent, and jobs with benefits. Weiner's wife, Huma Abedin, also gets some notable airtime. "We love this city. And no one will work harder to make it better than Anthony," Abedin tells the camera toward the end.
In April, a Quinnipiac University poll showed that Weiner could actually stand a chance in the Democratic primary, landing second to Speaker Christine Quinn with 15 percent of the vote. Will Weiner's name recognition win out in the end? Game on.
