Worker Killed, Another Critical in Construction Accidents
The New York Daily News reports New York's 21st construction accident fatality of the year: Miguel Rodriguez' "movable support" failed him yesterday around 2 p.m. and he fell five stories to his death. Earlier in the day another worker, so far unnamed, fell three stories at a Brooklyn site; he's at Bellevue in critical condition. The Daily News asked for better construction safety oversight in June: "New Yorkers are justifiably angry when seemingly predictable accidents happen -- and when seemingly preventable accidents wreak havoc on our families and neighborhoods."
