Since opening its doors two years ago, the Bowery Poetry Club has helped revitalize the poetry and spoken-word scene in the East Village. In addition to providing a showcase for both established and aspiring wordsmiths, the staff has also developed a creative atmosphere where artists and activists can meet, share ideas, and offer support to one another—during the recent RNC, it remained open 24 hours a day for just that purpose.
