Di'Anno was the frontman for headbanging legends Iron Maiden on their first two full-lengths. Then they kicked him out in 1981 for indulging in the rock-star lifestyle too much and becoming unreliable. However, the two records he did with the band were masterpieces: his gravelly voice gave Maiden a tough sound, and his short haircut and biker duds gave the band an image that fit punk better than metal.
