Not to take anything away from the fine nominees for this year's Oscar's acting categories, but there were five people--all men, it seems--who I feel were robbed of a nod, and I'm here to graciously present them with La Daily Musto nominations to make up for that. You're welcome, guys.
There are actors (like Peter O'Toole and Glenn Close) who've gotten nominated a whole lot of times and never won. Yet.
But how about the ones who've never even been nominated? In the case of the dead ones, I'm pretty sure they never will be! Now that's gotta hurt.
Here are some of the top omission ... More >>
Billy Crystal has a new movie called Parental Guidance, which I'm sure he's happy about, but because of bad management guidance, he's not part of one of the biggest franchises of all time.

Like his creations Stewie (from Family Guy) and Ted, Seth MacFarlane is kind of impishly cute yet snickeringly barbed and racy.
And I imagine that's exactly the combo he'll bring to his job hosting the next Academy Awards.
I can't say I'm surprised Billy Crystal isn't coming back for a 10th hostin ... More >>

I'm going to be honest. I have a certain affinity for the Oscars, despite all of the oft-mentioned problems with the event (too long, too off-base with the films it honors). My frequent go-to procrastination technique involves searching for clips from old ceremonies on YouTube. (Billy Crystal as Gol ... More >>
An article by Sheila Marikar on ABC.com points out that Billy Crystal has returned to Oscar-hosting amidst a whole new cultural landscape.
Says the piece, there is now "a general sense that movie stars can't be covered in a wholesome, fun for the whole family sort of way."
Enter Billy Crystal.
Eddie Murphy has followed his homophobic pal Brett Ratner out the gay door, and now the Oscars are starting from square zero again, much like the Democrats did when John Edwards was revealed to have fathered a love child.
So who should swoop in and save the show's ass?

It took a lot of imagination and thinking-outside-the-box for the Academy to come up with this year's Oscar host after Eddie Murphy said no thanks: it's Billy Crystal, who has hosted the Oscars approximately 40 times already. The number is actually eight, but still.
This is a safe choice, an ... More >>
