Holiday shopping can be stressful. If you're incredibly organized and efficient, you've already bought, wrapped, and added personal notes to all of your gifts. But if you're like us, you've spent many workday hours scouring online gift guides and picking out things you want for yourself (Hint: Ninja kitchen tools!). What's the solution to finding some joy while searching for the perfect present? It's simple: Get drunk.
Avoid the big box stores and check out these three local holiday markets, all of which are serving alcohol. Forget your worries, open your wallets, and buy that hand-crafted cheese knife for Aunt Margaret with a drink in your hand.
Brooklyn Craft Central Holiday Market Running on December 15 and 16, and then again the following weekend, this market in the Littlefield Art Space will highlight the wears of local designers. It will also offer a full bar and drink specials like the coffee and Kahlua-based Hot Glue, to keep you tipsy but energized throughout the day. Littlefield Performance Space, 622 Degraw St., nr. Third Ave. Dec. 15 to 16 and 22 to 23, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. bkcraftcentral.com
Hester Street Holiday Market Returning to Soho for its second year in a row, this offshoot of the Hester Street Fair sets up shop in a former elementary school building. Between 2 p.m. - 7 p.m. this weekend, you can break the playground rules and enjoy the Tiger Beer open bar. Those looking to fill their juice boxes with something a bit stronger can try the Christmas Card from Osaka (filtered sake, cider, five spice ginger syrup, fresh ginger, lemon & valernum) or the other specialty craft cocktails provided by Elsa. December 8 - 9, December 15 - 23 11am-7pm hesterstreetfair.com. ***
Roberta's Holiday Market The Bushwick pizza mecca is hosting over 20 vendors on Sunday afternoon. Wash down pizza, pastry chef Katy Peez's homemade granola, and Harmony Kim Chi with mugs of boozy cider and beer. There will also be a "bad Santa" portrait studio. Roberta's Garden, 261 Moore Street. (718) 417-1118. robertaspizza.com
***Update: The Hester Street team has informed us that alcohol will no longer be served this weekend but will (hopefully) be available in the future.
