Friday, April 26 Thai Street-Food Demonstration Chef Jay Weinstein will demonstrate how to make four different Thai curry pastes at the National Gourmet Institute from 6 to 9:30 p.m. Weinstein will pair the pastes with traditional street dishes like vegetable pad Thai, seitan satays, and yellow curry shrimp. Other dishes served will include spicy fish cakes and mango-coconut sorbet. Tickets are pricey at $115, but all guests will get complimentary beer. 48 W. 21st St.; 212-645-5170
Saturday, April 27 New York à la Cart Siobhan Wallace and Alexandra Penfold will present from their book Recipes and Stories from the Big Apple's Best Food Trucks at Bookcourt. Brooklyn Chocolate Bake-Off and Single-Origin Tasting Benefit Join The Chocolate Room for its first Brooklyn Bake-Off from noon to 2 p.m. The bakery will make flourless chocolate cake out of chocolate from various single-origin companies. Sunday, April 28 Spring Break at New York Beer Company Head to Midtown for the New York Beer Company's spring party from 5 to 11 p.m. Goose Island Brewery of Chicago will serve beer and complimentary cheese pairings, and guests can participate in raffles and giveaways. Yeast Class Lecture and Tasting The beer nerds at Bitter and Esters will host a class, from 1 to 5 p.m., dedicated to the history of yeast, yeast nutrition, and yeast cultures relating to beer. An entrance fee starting at $70 gets you a tasting of lost British strains including 1028 London Ale, 1098 British Ale, and 1929 London ESB.
