Saturday, April 6 Smorgasburg returns The holy grail of Brooklyn food fairs returns this weekend. Smorgasburg will reopen in Williamsburg on Saturday at 11 a.m. in its usual location near the East River State Park. Bagel Barks in Central Park Bring your pup to Central Park bright and early on Saturday morning for free coffee, bagels, pastries, and dog treats for off-leash hours. The New Nordic Cuisine Symposium Join Columbia's Department of Germanic Language for a free conference on the New Nordic food movement from 2:10 to 5 p.m. Mark Emil Hermansen of Denmark's restaurant Noma will discuss how to create Terroir, and Susanne Österlund-Pötzsch from Finland is scheduled to talk about Nordic Island cuisine. Chef Fredrik Berselius of Aska, Siggi Hilmarsson, the founder of Siggi's dairy products, and Simo Kuusisto, founder of Nordic Breads, will speak about the movement's popularity in New York City. 550 West 120th Street
Beer for Beasts Head to the Bell House for the third annual Beer for Beasts charity event. BeerAdvocate and Sixpoint Brewery will serve dozens of craft beers, and though pets aren't actually allowed in the bar, all proceeds will go to the Humane Society of New York City.
