A Three-Day Celebration of Food Books and Indie Publications

The Food Book Fair is heading back to Brooklyn for a three-day celebration of all things delicious and literary. As it did last year, the fair will set up in Williamsburg's Wythe Hotel. Expect a pop-up shop of 200 books and 30 indie food publications, along with a solid lineup of cooking demos and panels each day.

A few highlights from the schedule: Writer Oliver Strand will lead a "coffee crawl" through Williamsburg (that includes sweet and savory pastries made by Blue Bottle's Caitlin Freeman) and author Charlotte Druckman will moderate a conversation about foraging with Fredrik Berselius of Aska and forager Evan Strusinsk. Christophe Hille of Northern Spy and author Saru Jayaraman will discuss labor issues within restaurants--a challenge to workers in the industry, and one that's often left unaddressed.

Elizabeth Thacker Jones founded the Food Book Fair with her great-grandfather Samuel Milton Jones as her inspiration. Milton Jones greatly improve life for the working-class community of Toledo, Ohio, when he served as the city's mayor--in addition to celebrating literary food culture, Thacker Jones hopes the fair "will inspire its own reforms within the local food movement."
