Afropunks, Take Heart: Desi Food Truck Owner Hints at September 17 Rain Date
Kati rolls and Afropunk hope
Few New Yorkers were more disappointed about Hurricane Irene shutting down the city than those who had planned to attend the Afropunk Festival this past weekend. At the eleventh hour, the festivities were canceled, including the lineup that included Cee Lo Green, Janelle Monae, and Santigold. But music wasn't the only thing to be featured at the event.
Beats were to be accompanied by eats from the Desi Food Truck, Frites 'N' Meats, Mexicue, and more. Luckily, Desi Food Truck owner Alamgeer Elahi has the inside scoop on the fest's rain date.
"Maybe September 17," he told us. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, you can always find Elahi at his new Kati-Kart on 50th Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues.
