Alice's Tea Cup is Falling Down the Rabbit Hole and Into Books of Wonder
Food fit for Alice and Eloise and Angelina Ballerina
Books of Wonder, the city's finest bookshop for the under-12 set, once placated hungry kiddies with cupcakes from the adjacent Cupcake Café (because what child doesn't want to ruin her baby teeth with cavity-inducing vehicles for frosting). That shop, however, ran into trouble in recent months and was shuttered by the Health Department. According to reports, this was due to vermin and lack of a handwashing station. Mommies and nannies -- fear not. Another cupcake peddler will open in its place. Yes, Alice's Tea Cup, the bastion of all things pink and baked, will be taking over "sometime this week," opening a branch called Wonder Land.
Given the literary link, Alice's Tea Cup actually is a perfect partner for Books of Wonder. This location marks the first downtown one for the bakery, which specializes in scones, tarts, cakes, and tea, though we were told that the menu will be somewhat more limited than its uptown outposts'. Cupcakes are "likely to be offered." Cupcake vodka, probably not.
