Allen & Delancey Seems to Have Bitten the Dust
Good-bye to all of that?
What a week it's been for restaurant shit shows, what with Eighty One's sad demise, Ryan Skeen's alleged fist tango with his GM, and Ollie's bankruptcy. Now it looks like Allen & Delancey has been added to the poop pile: Eater has heard from one of the long-embattled restaurant's bartenders that the place is closing, a rumor that was more or less confirmed by a GM who told Grub Street that owner Richard Friedberg "decided the business wasn't viable anymore." Given that the restaurant filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last August, this isn't a terribly big surprise; what's more surprising is that, given its myriad problems, it managed to hang on for so long.
