Announcement: Five More Trucks + a Very Special DJ Guest to Appear at Choice Streets
Laura June Kirsch
We're just a month away from our Choice Streets tasting event, which descends on The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex on Pier 86 (West 46th Street and Twelfth Avenue) on May 7 from 8 to 11 p.m. We've already told you about some of the trucks you'll find at this gathering of mobile food vendors from around the city, and today, we're unveiling more of the lineup.
Our five new vendors are:
DUB Pies Hibachi Heaven Luzzo's La Pizza Napoletana Mike N' Willie's Souvlaki GR
These carts join previously announced Big D's Grub Truck, Comme Ci Comme Ca, Coolhaus Ice Cream Sandwiches, Korilla BBQ, Love Mamak & Lucky Yim, Luke's Lobster, Moo Shu Grill, Nuchas, Solber Pupusas, and Sweet Chili
We can also unveil our DJ for the party, who is back by popular demand after spinning at Choice Eats in 2012: Andy Rourke of The Smiths, who has played and recorded with performers like Sinead O'Connor, Morrissey, The Pretenders, and Badly Drawn Boy since The Smiths parted ways in 1987. You can catch Rourke on East Village Radio's Jetlag show and at various nightclubs around the city.
And finally, we're also looking for volunteers to help us out at the party. If you're over 21, fill out an application on the volunteer portion of our website; if you're selected, you'll receive complimentary access to our Brooklyn Pour craft beer tasting festival in September.
General Admission tickets to Choice Streets are $50, and your fare gives you a chance to taste something from each vendor in addition to unlimited beer, wine, and cocktails and free entrance to the Intrepid museum. The Early Entry ticket gets you that plus a chance to walk through the doors a half an hour early at 7:30 p.m.; the VIP ticket nets you an hour of early access plus a gift bag. Head over to the Choice Streets website for more information and to purchase tickets.
