Asian Feastival Comes to Queens for Labor Day

Food nerds still hemming and hawing about making Labor Day plans, take note: September 6 witnesses the first "Asian Feastival," a smorgasbord of eats in Queens.

From Our Man Sietsema's beloved Qingdao eatery M&T Restaurant to Mekong Thai & Vietnamese and Delhi Palace, a number of North and South Asian cuisines will be represented at the daylong event. Panels include Not Eating Out in New York's Cathy Erway on how to navigate an Asian market, Pichet Ong (Sweet Spot) waxing poetic about the flavors of Southeast Asian cuisine, and the reliably vociferous Eddie Huang (Baohaus) on a panel with Top Chef's Lee Anne Wong. Those unafraid of early mornings, full stomachs, and bicycle rides may well flip to see that Momofuku alum Youngsun Lee, formerly of Persimmon, is leading a bike tour of Queens starting at 8:30 a.m. Buy-ahead tickets are $55 and include sake, wine, and over 40 tastes from 20-plus restaurants.
