Beer and Cheese, IPA Day, Our Global Kitchen: What Are You Doing This Week?
What goes into IPA? Step inside Brooklyn Brewery and find out.
If you're stressed about the summer being half over, lean back in that office chair--or on that yoga ball--and relax. There are plenty of upcoming opportunities to live it up while the sun is out. Here's a look at events that should erase post-weekend blues:
Founders Beer & Murray's Cheese Pairing, Tavern 29, 47 East 29th Street, Monday, 6 p.m.
Think the best thing to pair a beer with is a red solo cup? Think again. Founders Brewing Co. and Murray's Cheese team up to create perfect combinations of brews and cheese. For $30, participants receive four four-ounce tasters of beer, four selections of cheese, and a draft beer of choice. Taste dairy that matches porter and pale ale, and don't miss the Rubaeus, which is fermented with fresh raspberries and weighs in at 7 percent ABV. For tickets, call Tavern 29 directly at 212-685-4422.
IPA Day, multiple locations, Thursday
IPA gets its own celebratory day this Thursday (as if you really needed an excuse to put back a cold one), so get comfortable with this style at your favorite bar. Alternatively, head to the Hell's Kitchen location of 5 Napkin Burger, where milkshakes get a dose of Firestone Union Jack IPA along with butterscotch and a hop-infused blondie. Or uncover the science behind brewing at Brooklyn Brewery's small batch tour, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. Reserve your spot to sample four Brooklyn Brewery beers, one of which should be a no-brainer.
Our Global Kitchen: Food, Nature, Culture, American Museum of Natural History, Central Park West at 79th Street, through August 11
You're running out of time to experience this exhibition, which focuses on the cultural impact of food via a variety of artwork. Beginning today, visitors will also have the chance to sample a treat from a NYC-area farm such as Brooklyn Grange in the exhibition's working kitchen. Tickets are $27 for adults; admission is free for members. Check out the schedule of tastings.
