Beloved East Village Dive Blue and Gold Tavern Closed [Updated]
Blue and Gold Tavern, where one could get a Scotch for $3,
seems to be no more is closed for renovations.
The place looks gutted, floor to ceiling. Workers there could only say that they were doing renovations, and were not sure if Blue and Gold would re-open.
Even if it does, it'll certainly be a different animal from the place with the well-worn bar and elderly pool table that we used to enjoy. The phone is not being answered, not that there's anything particularly unusual about that.
Update: Thanks to a comment from Blue and Gold's management, we now know that the ceiling is being sound-proofed and the bar will re-open on Thursday, with character intact. All's well that end's well.
