Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter Coming Soon to Avenue C
Winner, winner, chicken dinner
Southern food might have been one of the big restaurant trends of 2011, but it shows no signs of slowing down. The newest addition to the city (located not too far from another bird-named Southern spot, the Cardinal) will come in the form of Bobwhite Lunch & Supper Counter, a luncheonette-style eatery at 94 Avenue C specializing in classic Dixie favorites.
Although the final menu is still being tweaked, it will include fried and grilled organic chicken suppers; hot sandwiches with fried chicken, grilled chicken, or pork chops, featuring homemade condiments and relishes; simple Southern sandwiches like pimento cheese, egg salad, and chicken salad; seasonal Southern vegetables like collard greens; and traditional Southern desserts such as banana cream pie parfaits and red velvet cake.
"Coming from a town with a close-knit community, I felt a similar camaraderie when I was scouting locations," explains owner and native Southerner Keedick Coulter of the Alphabet City location. "I very much look forward to getting to know my neighbors further." Look for a January 1 opening.
