Contest Won Within Seven Minutes of Being Posted!
Yesterday's "Where Am I Eating" contest was posted yesterday morning at 9:17, and by 9:25 it had been won by emkay.
The prize is a cookbook from Fork in the Road's stash, chosen by our own Sarah DiGregorio. (Emkay, please send her your snail mail address at firstname.lastname@example.org so we can forward your prize.)
Was the contest too easy? Or are our readers smarter than we are? Next week, we promise to make it harder.
In the meantime, forge onward for the correct answer.
This jolly guy stands on the stairway that ascends from the merchandise floor at M & I International, Brighton Beach's most distinguished purveyor of cured pork, smoked and brined fish, and many further Russian specialties. You've never seen so many kinds of pork belly. A bakery adjacent sells piroshki and other Russian pastries at bargain prices. There's a dining room upstairs in case you can't wait to get the food home, and prepared meals are also available. Russian is one of those rare cuisines that actually improves on the steam table. 299 Brighton Beach Avenue, Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, 718-615-1011
