Corner Bistro Goes to Queens, R.U.B Goes to Long Island

Yesterday, it was Bare Burger and Shake Shack, and today, there's more meat movement to report.

According to Eater, R.U.B., the Chelsea barbecue restaurant that happened to be No. 8 on our list of the 10 best places for barbecue, is expanding to Long Island with a 5,000-square-foot outpost off the Hempstead Turnpike near East Meadow. It will have four pits, 140 seats, and the same menu it has in Chelsea, and is will be followed in the next two years by more locations in the tristate area.

A bit closer to home, another Manhattan meat institution is making the journey east: The Jane Street burger stalwart Corner Bistro will soon open a second location, in Queens. Liqcity.com reports that the 50-year-old restaurant is coming to Astoria -- specifically the intersection of Vernon Boulevard and 47th Road. Harold Wedick, Corner Bistro's manager and partner, told Grub Street it should open in "three to four months." Between this and terducken, all Astoria's missing now is a Shake Shack.
