David Santos Parts Ways With 5 & Diamond
The restaurant industry's high turnover rates strike again! Two months after Sarah reported that David Santos had taken over the 5 & Diamond kitchen in the wake of Ryan Skeen's departure, Santos too has parted ways with the Harlem restaurant.
Santos emailed Eater to say that he parted ways with the restaurant on August 22. He blamed the split on "different ideas" he and the owners had "about what to do there and what needed to be done as far as the direction of the restaurant was concerned."
While there's no word on where Santos will go next, or who will subsequently assume leadership of the 5 & Diamond kitchen, the restaurant's owners, Lia Sanfilippo and Selene Martinez, have issued a statement confirming Santos' departure, saying "we agree that it was for the best." They plan to announce a new chef shortly.
