Dinner With E.T., Gelato-Making, NYC Taco Challenge: What To Do This Week
You could wait on line for gelato ... or you could learn how to make your own
Mia Chef Gelateria
Do you have the post-Bieber-and-Beyoncé blues after this weekend's performance at Barclays Center? Us neither. Mostly because we're looking forward to this stellar lineup of events in NYC this week:
KTCHN's Dinner and a Movie: E.T., KTCHN, 508 West 42 Street, Tuesday, 8 p.m.
Complimentary Reese's Pieces--E.T.'s favorite--and TV dinner-inspired dishes fill out the menu for this $35 three-course prix fix and movie screening. And don't worry: Cocktail specials will help ease the pain of [spoiler alert!] watching Eliot and E.T. part ways. Reservations can be made online in advance or by calling 212-868-2999.
Gelato-Making Class, Mia Chef Gelateria, 379 Third Avenue, multiple dates, 5:30 and 8:30 p.m.
You could continue to queue up for a tasty scoop of gelato this summer. Or you could learn how to make the stuff yourself and never have to wait on line again. Learn what goes into creating gelato--we're pretty it's unicorn dust and fairy powder--and take home a container of your hard work. Vouchers are $120 for an individual and $199 for parties of two.
The NYC Taco Challenge, Studio Arte, 265 West 37th Street 17th Floor, Thursday, 5:30 p.m.
You still have some time to consider whether Anthony Weiner's bad behavior affects your vote in the mayoral primary, but in the meantime, don't waste your chance to vote on another important matter: NYC's top taco. Taste six different tacos from contenders such as The Taco Shop, Toloache, and La Esquina. Signature cocktails should go a long way to cleanse the palate in between tastings. Tickets are $32.64, with 10 percent of the proceeds going toward the efforts of the Mexican American Student Alliance.
