If the almost-blue moon sighting brought out the animal in you--or if it was just too bright to sleep--relaxing with a cheap drink might help bring you back down to earth. Here's a round-up of our favorite spots around town to grab a cool drink special this week.
Destination Bar & Grill, 211 Avenue A
Whether you navigate to this spot with your smartphone or a compass, half-priced top-shelf and well drinks till 8 p.m. await anyone who finds their way inside. You'll also find $3 PBR and thematic mixed cocktails in addition to a full menu featuring items like bacon-infused sliders and buffalo chicken drumsticks. Those snacks are ideal for weary travelers--or people who just get really hungry when they drink.
Lion's Head Tavern, 995 Amsterdam Avenue
From 5 to 8 p.m., customers receive $1 off drafts as well as $3 select glasses of wine and well drinks. Drink down unique craft beer like Pyramid Curve Ball Blonde Ale while taking in the bar's casual vibe--photos of patrons having a great time give the place a distinct local touch. On Wednesday, the place also serves up $1 drafts from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., a good special for Columbia students looking for a reprieve from studying.
The Charleston, 174 Bedford Avenue, Brooklyn
Hipster headquarters or not, cheap pizza pies and eight hours of drink specials are a major reason to hop on the L train and brave the banjos. From noon to 8 p.m. receive $1 off all draft beers, $1 off well drinks, or a $5 shot and beer combo if you've had a really rough day. After 8 p.m., the bar offers $1 personal pizza--toppings are $1 extra each--with any drink order.
