East Village Thai Restaurant 'Closed for Renovation'
Although its Lilliputian dimensions and unassuming location on East 7th Street make it easy to miss, East Village Thai Restaurant is something of a neighborhood takeout staple. But according to a sign on its gate, its patrons will have to look elsewhere for green curry for the indefinite future: The restaurant is "closed for renovation." The sign gives no hint of when it will reopen, and the "We hope to see you again soon" isn't particularly reassuring for those familiar with the euphemistic import of "renovation."
