Huertas Pintxos Takeover featuring El Rey Coffee Bar & Luncheonette and Morgenstern’s Finest Ice Cream, Huertas, 107 First Avenue, Monday through Sunday

If you're looking for a cheap bite, El Rey and Morgenstern's are teaming together for a special à la carte pintxos menu at Huertas. Ranging from one to three bucks, guests can nibble on vegan chicharrones, shrimp toast a la plancha, and octopus crostini, among other Mediterranean-influenced delicacies. Sweets include an assortment of bon bons with flavors like Manchego-membrillo, creme Catalan, and chocolate olive oil sorbet. Huertas is also creating a special chistorra dog that will be available at El Rey. All ice cream flavors are available at Morgenstern's this week as well.

Cocktail Class and Guest Bartending with Eben Freeman, Genuine Liquorette, 191 Grand Street, Monday, 7 to 9 p.m.

Learn the ins and outs of a cobbler shaker and get a good arm workout at Eben Freeman's monthly cocktail session. Students who sign up for a class - $75 per person - will learn how to properly create a bar setup for their home as well as the right and wrong way to hold, measure, and pour spirits. Guests who complete the class are then able to bartend for themsleves and their guests any time they visit Genuine Liquorette. Additional classes, which will be hosted by Freeman and other certified bartenders, are scheduled for October 19, November 11, and December 7.

Jacques Pépin and Anthony Bourdain: Home and Away, 92 Street Y, 1395 Lexington Avenue, Tuesday, 7:30 p.m.

Jacques Pépin and Tony Bourdain team together for an evening of conversation celebrating Pépin's 80th birthday and the release of his book. The duo will discuss a few of Pépin's favorite home recipes as well as celebrate the airing of his final PBS show; reserve a $61 ticket here.

Slice Out Hunger's $1 Slice Night, St. Anthony's Church, 155 Sullivan Street, Wednesday, 6 p.m. until the pizza runs out

Over 50 different pizzerias are assembling under one steeple to offer dollar slices in support of Food Bank for New York City. Organized by Slice Out Hunger founder and pizza geek Scott Wiener of Scott's Pizza Tours, the line up includes a cross section of city favorites like DiFaraPrince Street Pizza, and Motorino. Tickets for each slice of pizza are $1 dollar each and are available at the door (cash only) — there's a one slice per person per pizzeria limit. VIP ticket packages can be purchased here.

Heartlandia Guest Chef Dinner, Saxon + Parole, 316 Bowery, Friday

Adam and Jackie Sappington from The Country Cat in Portland are launching their cookbook this Friday and giving New Yorkers a sneak peek at the recipes that wait inside. The four course menu - $50 per person - includes a housemade cheese with accompaniments, grilled BBQ oysters, fried chicken with sour cream mashed potatoes, and chocolate cake. Additionally, Jackie will be available to speak with guests and sign cookbooks, which will be available onsite for purchase. Reservations can be made by contacting the restaurant directly.
