El Parador Chef-Owner Alex Alejandro Buys Bay Ridge Steakhouse, Embers
When we last checked in on Alex Alejandro of El Parador Café, he mentioned wanting to bottle the salsa that helped make his family's restaurant famous, and perhaps expanding with a new venture to some warm, exotic locale. He's finally making these dreams come true ... sort of.
Alejandro recently purchased the Bay Ridge steakhouse Embers. (OK, so Brooklyn isn't exactly warm, but it can certainly be exotic.) The restaurant is currently closed for renovations, but will retain its name when it reopens. Alejandro will work the current staff to develop new dishes and tweak the existing menu. He expects to debut the reinvented Embers at the beginning of September.
