Fast Company Names Most Inspiring People in Sustainable Food
Some thumbs are greener than others.
Feeling green, perhaps, Fast Company has listed its 10 "Most Inspiring People in Sustainable Food," including farmers, chefs, and urban planners. (Unsurprisingly, a certain organic supermarket chain CEO is noticeably absent from the list.) Dan Barber, naturally, is praised for the authenticity of his farm-to-table model; Michael Pollan and Food Inc. director Robert Kenner also get nods. Naked Chef Jamie Oliver gets a mention for his efforts to trim the fattest city in America, which one assumes is related to sustainability because he's pushing unprocessed, locally sourced foods. Another interesting mention is Dickson Despommier of Vertical Farms Project, who recently made headlines for his vision of farming within the confines of skyscrapers. Onward and upward.
