When one restaurant's doors close, another restaurant's doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday we'll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week: a food and beer hall hits Crown Heights, the East Village gets a snow creamery, and the first Denny's location opens in Manhattan.
Berg'n, 899 Bergen Street, Brooklyn, 718-857-2337
The highly-anticipated food hall Berg'n has arrived in Crown Heights. The space is the brainchild of Jonathan Butler and Eric Demby, the men behind Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg. Part beer hall, part food hall, Berg'n offers grub from vendors such as Mighty Quinn's, Asia Dog, and Pizza Moto. You'll also find the infamous Ramen Burger. Berg'n is open Sunday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 1 a.m. and Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 2 a.m.
BV's Grill, 919 Third Avenue, 212-935-6800
Restauranteur Joseph Smith has opened BV's Grill, his and his partners' tenth New York restaurant. The menu boasts something for everyone with New York strip steak, kale and barley salad, and chicken parmesan. BV's Grill is open for lunch and dinner daily.
Denny's, 150 Nassau Street
Manhattan's first Denny's opened at 5 a.m. this morning. The diner attempts to separate itself from its other restaurants by creating a more upscale environment with cocktails, leather booths, and exposed brick walls. Diners can also order a $300 breakfast special that includes two Grand Slam entrees and Dom Perignon Champagne.
Fourth Street Central, 63 East 4th Street
The East Village doesn't have a problem keeping caffeinated, but that hasn't stopped new coffee shops from opening in the area. Fourth Street Central is serving Lavazza coffee along with smoothies, breakfast foods, and lunch items.
Snowadays Shavery, 241 10th Street, 212-982-8881
Snow cream has descended upon the East Village. Half ice cream, half shaved ice, snow cream is a creamy dessert that has a fluffy snow-like texture. Snowadays deals flavors like New York cheesecake, corn muffin, and green tea, with toppings like homemade fruit puree and condensed milk.
