Florent: Queen of the Meat Market Debuts at the NYC Food Film Festival Next Week
A new documentary by David Sigal called Florent: Queen of the Meat Market profiles Florent Morellet's eponymous Meatpacking District bistro and its role not only as a club-kid hangout but as a hub for the gay rights movement. It features interviews with Isaac Mizrahi, Diane von Furstenberg, and the Voice's own Michael Musto. The film premieres next Thursday, June 24, at the fourth annual NYC Food Film Festival.
Update: As commenters pointed out, the $75 ticket to attend the screening, a benefit for the Food Bank for New York City, is pretty steep. But fear not, writes director David Sigal, more New York screenings are to come:
We will be at Outfest in LA in July and other screenings in New York are to be determined. We are just starting the festival circuit this week and look forward to a lot more.
