Forget Food Network. Watch Your Gastro-Programming Online.
Cablevision customers may not be able to get their Food Network, but with the proliferation of quality online culinary programs, they might no longer need it. There's Liza de Guia's delightful mini documentaries about the city's chefs, farmers, and other food purveyors. And yesterday, a new web series called PEDALING: NYC debuted, featuring chefs who bike and cyclists who cook.
While the first episodes are set in New York, the plan is to take the series national. Mayor Bloomberg's continued greening of the city means there are more bike paths than ever in the Big Apple nowadays. And PEDALING suggests you use them to get yourself to your next meal. Sponsored by Specialized Bicycles, Whole Foods Market, Capo Forma, and Bike New York, the first episode features Chef Chris Jaeckle of Morimoto cycling over the Williamsburg Bridge to make pizza with Dave Sclarow of the Brooklyn Flea's Pizza Moto. There are worse ways to shed -- and gain back -- a few pounds.
