When one restaurant's doors close, another restaurant's doors open in fast-paced New York City, and every Friday, we'll fill you in on what opened up around town this week. This week: two sisters bring their mother's dumpling recipe to the East Village, a pasta shop takes over Bushwick, and the couple behind Nightingale 9 introduce Southern restaurant Wilma Jean.

Mimi Cheng's Dumplings, 179 Second Avenue, 212-533-0169

Located in the East Village, Mimi Cheng's Dumplings is a dumpling shop boasting authentic Taiwanese fare. The shop is owned by two sisters, Hannah and Marian Cheng, who have created the dumplings based on their mother's recipes. All of the meat used is is from Brooklyn's Fleisher's Grass-Fed and Organic Meats. Mimi Cheng's is open Sunday from 3 to 9 p.m., Monday from 5 to 10 p.m., and Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Pasta Shop, 234 Starr Street, Brooklyn

Pasta Shop features just what you'd expect it to feature: pasta. General Manager Gianmarco Orecchio hales from Italy, and his menu includes, in addition to a broad variety of noodles, antipasti and a couple of entrees; it's also serving brunch. Pasta Shop is currently open for dinner with plans to soon open for lunch.

The Coffee Shop, 203 Wilson Avenue, Brooklyn

Bushwick native Michael Avila has opened The Coffee Shop. Avila formerly worked at I Am Coffee on St. Mark's in Manhattan before deciding to open his own space in Brooklyn. The space will feature live events from artists, musicians and more.

Wilma Jean, 345 Smith Street, Brooklyn

A month after Seersucker closed to make way for Nightingale 9's move to its space, Rob Newton and Kerry Diamond have opened Wilma Jean in the former Nightingale 9 address. The newest concept sees many of Seersucker's beloved Southern items on the menu, but there are new additions, too -- see the fried bologna sandwiches, for example. Wilma Jean is now open for lunch and dinner, and Nightingale 9 opens next week.
