Overview: Restaurateur Julian Medina opened Cuban-Latin diner Coppelia in 2011 for one reason: so people have a place to eat real food, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. In the kitchen, he installed variations on Latin American food that are a bit more upscale than your standard diner. The menu spans many cuisines, from the Caribbean basin to South America, but as with most diners in this city, you'll find an all-day breakfast menu, as well.
Highlights: Coppelia's chile relleno de quinoa ($16.95) is an updated version of the traditional dish. Stuffed into a verdant poblano pepper are quinoa, brussels sprouts, and zucchini; the package sits in a tangy homemade tomato sauce. The dish is very light, refreshing, healthy, and gluten-free, and it has no overwhelming flavor. If you're exceptionally hungry, though, you'll want to supplement.

Consider Coppelia's sweet corn empanadas ($3.75 for one), which are stuffed with sweet corn and cheddar cheese. The crust is flaky and pastry-like, and the slight sweetness of the corn plays well with the sharp cheddar cheese. This is classic sweet-savory, and it's immensely satisfying.
