Holy Crap: Americans Will Eat 79 Million Pounds of Avocados, 15 Million Pizzas This Weekend
Avocado or pizza? Put your hands together.
The Super Bowl is not about football. It's about stuffing your face with as much bar food as humanly possible not feeling bad about it because it's the Super Bowl! It's your American right to chow down on nachos, pizza, and wings, while knocking back a whole bunch of tall boys. Amurrica.
Avocado's become a 'duh' ingredient in lots of these guilty pleasure dishes: Guacamole over nachos, stacked on a burger, or in heavenly avocado fry. This year Americans will consume 79 million pounds of avocados -- just about 158 million single avocados -- during the Super Bowl, the AP reports.
That's 79 million pounds of avocados, enough to make 53 million servings of Alton Brown's guacamole or garnish 318 million tacos.
In addition, Americans will devour 1.23 billion chicken wings, according to the National Chicken Council's 2013 wing report, and 15 million pizzas, said (awesome) trade publication Pizza Today.
