How to Celebrate Two Great Food Holidays at Once
The grilled sandwich tastes every bit as wonderful as it looks.
I became disturbed upon learning that, not only is it National Licorice Day today (April 12), but it's also National Grilled Cheese Day. It didn't seem possible to adequately celebrate both holidays at once, until I hit upon a plan ...
The raw materials
I'd make shit out of Shinola by combining toasted cheese and licorice in the same sandwich. If I can catch one of the interns, perhaps I can begin applying for a patent. But pending that, I'm content to merely celebrate two great holidays with my "licoreese" sandwich.
Really, licorice is every bit as good as bacon when it comes to livening up some dull cheddar. And I'm certain something in the licorice neutralizes cholesterol, or does something equally salutary.
So here's my mega-monument to two great foods -- toasted cheese and licorice!
