If Batali and Bourdain Were on Top Chef last night
Strange coincidence...or is it? Last night's Top Chef had the cheftestants cooking "last suppers" for culinary luminaries Wylie Dufresne, Lidia Bastianich, Marcus Samuelsson, Jacques Pepin, and James Beard Foundation president Susan Ungaro, while today on Serious Eats, Mario Batali and Anthony Bourdain talk about what they would want for their final bite. Yes, "final bite" has to be specified because Batali says a "final meal" for him "would have to be a 73-course, five-day extravaganza." Unlike last night's Top Chef guests, who chose rather boring final meals like scampi and roast chicken, Bourdain and Batali naturally opt for something a bit more exciting: uni.
Mario wants "uni with a piece of shiso on it," while Tony says "uni with rice would be just fine." Either way, I'd love to have seen Leah or Stefan doing sea urchin for B and B last night.
