Is Michael Psilakis Headed to Williamsburg?
Is Michael Psilakis planning to break out from the warm embrace of the Upper West Side to venture forth to Williamsburg? If his application for a liquor license at last week's Community Board 1 meeting was any indication, then possibly so. The New York Post reports that Psilakis has his eyes on a space at 470 Driggs Avenue, near North 11th Street. The former home of a window blinds distributor, the low-slung building is close to McCarren Park, making it a prime location in the summer months. There's no word yet on what Psilakis' concept will be, or even if he'll definitely sign the lease, but given the chef's decision to apply under the name Biergarten Williamsburg LLC, it doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that there will be beer, and, um, a garden.
