La Goulue Bids Adieu
Diner's Journal reports that La Goulue will really and truly close on August 26. The Madison Avenue bistro has been a fixture of Upper East Side society since it opened in 1972, serving pommes frites to the disposably incomed and playing a supporting role in Fatal Attraction and Sex and the City episodes. Its owners say the restaurant is moving because of construction on the building, and plan to dismantle the restaurant piece by piece and move it to another, as yet unknown location. They hope to find a new space within a few blocks of the current restaurant, but, like just about everyone else, have been running into problems with landlords that have been "utterly spoiled in the last decade."
