La Superior's Owner to Birth Cantina Royale
La Superior's cheap but mainly delicious Goth-Mex fare made it a hit in Williamsburg almost from the day it opened in 2008, and now its owner is hoping to replicate that success with a second restaurant in the neighborhood.
Paper reports that Felipe Mendez will open Cantina Royale next week in the former Monkey Town space. Making full use of his liquor license, Mendez will serve some 25 types of tequila and a few mezcals, as well as 16 types of salsa and a menu of Mexico City-style bistro food.
