Le Bernardin to Start Serving Lunch in Lounge
Le Bernardin is back in a big way, earning three Michelin stars and a near-perfect Zagat rating post-renovation. The biggest news of the restaurant revamp was the opening of the more casual lounge, where jackets are "encouraged but not required." OK, so it's not exactly Brooklyn-casual, but still, for Le Bernardin it counts as really letting your hair down. Now the lounge is opening for lunch, meaning Midtown office workers looking for something a little fancier than a $5 Footlong have a (relatively) casual place to pop in for your everyday, run-of-the-mill smoked salmon croque monsieur with Golden Osetra caviar without having to make reservations.
Also available in the lounge is the $70 prix-fixe lunch menu available in the main dining room. The first-come, first-served lunch lounge is open noon to 2:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
