Much of the food media's attention is focused on Andrew Carmellini's newest venture, Lafayette, at the moment, and as a result, that large place is packed regularly. But the chef's other restaurants aren't exactly suffering in the shadow of their newest sibling--Locanda Verde's wait on a recent weeknight, for instance, stretched for an hour, and a celebrity or two stopped by for a table. The Tribeca restaurant turns out a solid menu of neighborhood Italian fare, and a couple of dishes on the menu are real standouts. One of those is the corn ravioli. Little pasta pockets are filled with sweet pureed corn before they're paired to the subtle earthiness of hen of the woods mushrooms and served on a pool of smoked tomato sauce, which lends acidity to the rich flavor combination, rendering it deceptively light. A finishing tuft of crispy wisps of leek adds a clean, anise flavor as well as harmonious texture, crackling against the soft pasta in the mouth.
