Magnolia's Sugar-Crazed Fans Clog Upper West Side
Last summer, Robert Sietsema documented Magnolia cupcake-consumers trashing the West Village with their boxes and pastel-frosting-besmirched napkins. (Magnolia responded to the post, claiming that workers are required to empty the nearby trash cans nightly.)
Now the cupcake peddler finds itself in more trouble, again because of its extremely determined patrons, who line up for the sugary snacks as though Magnolia is giving away elixir of life.
Grub Street reports that Magnolia may lose its sidewalk cafe license, because the enclosed seating area is being used for long lines, rather than for sedate eating of cupcakes.
