Mark Ryden's Meat Show Still Rings True 12 Years Later
Mark Ryden, 'Snow White,' Oil on Panel, 1997
Eat Me Daily revisits Mark Ryden's "Meat Show." The artist, who has exhibited at Paul Kasmin Gallery in Chelsea and Sloan Fine Art on the LES, was driven by an ideal that is relevant today more than ever: "Just like T-rex, I myself am a passionate meat-eater... But there is that paradox of knowing how that scrumptious porterhouse made it to my dinner plate. We have lost any kind of reverence for this. It would be interesting if people would have to kill an animal themselves before they earned the right to eat it."
