Marquee Reopens in Chelsea, Milk and Honey Moves to 23rd Street
In with the new Marquee, out with this old stuff.
Marquee, the Chelsea club that closed for renovations last year, reopened this week. After a decade and offshoots -- Las Vegas and Australia locations -- owners Noah Tepperberg and Jason Strauss gutted and revamped the entire space. Eater reported that some of the walls even feature scratch-and-sniff wallpaper. That sounds special. 289 10th Ave.
Midtown West got a new banh mi dive. Midtown Lunch reported that Saigon 9 West opened on 47th Street with a small but authentic menu. A traditional banh mi costs $6. Bonus, they offer a pickle lemonade for the adventurous lunch-goers. 348 W. 47th St.
Milk and Honey, the Lower East Side sort-of-speakeasy, is moving to 23rd Street. The Times's Robert Simonson tweeted the new location will be fully open on January 23 and that walk ins will be accepted. None of this reservation only nonsense anymore. 30 E. 23rd St.
Bushwick gets a little more bizarre with a new bar called, well, BIZARRE. The bar on Jefferson Street. opens tonight with a party featuring "assorted madness, erotica, and the unexpected." Momofuku alum Daniel Burns is teaming up with Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergsø to bring possibly the best beer bar in all the land to Greenpoint. Tørst will open sometime in March and Eater reported that renovations are underway. Aside from exotic beers, the menu promises Scandinavian-influenced food. 615 Manhattan Ave, Brooklyn
Yesterday The Cleveland opened on (yup, you guessed it!) Cleveland Place. The new Soho restaurant features American favorites like rubbed skirt steak, roasted chicken, and sautéed kale. Owners Paul Shaked and Hudson Solomon hope to begin lunch service in a few months. 25 Cleveland Pl.
