Midtown Lunch's Street Meat Extravaganza
A different sort of street meat
Check out Midtown Lunch's amazing blind taste test of street meat from 13 different carts. As they point out, it's easy to think that all that lamb (or chicken) and rice is the same, but each cart uses different spices, and has their own spin on white sauce and hot sauce. To me, a good hot sauce is key.
Of the 13 entrants, Rafiqi’s came in surprisingly low, and the popular Kwik Meal cart came in fifth, beat out by some no-name carts. That's the fun of a blind taste test. The famous 53rd & 6th Halal Chicken & Rice cart came in first overall, also capturing the "Best Hot Sauce" award.
