Montauk's Ditch Witch Won't Be Replaced by a Fancy Lobster Roll Truck
It's rare for a ray of sunshine to break through the clouds of gentrification, so we're happy to note that Lili Adams, a/k/a the Ditch Witch of Montauk, will not have to close down her storied food wagon.
Last month, Montauk's town board voted to replace Adams's wagon with one selling $17 lobster rolls. In response, The Feast reports, fans of Adams's food, which she'd been selling on Ditch Plains beach for 17 years, reacted by creating a "Save the Ditch Witch" Facebook page and inundating members of the board with so many phone calls that they reversed their decision. Now Adams is back for the rest of the summer -- and hopefully many summers more.
