Motorino Eyes Sunshine Hotel for Possible Steakhouse
A couple of months ago, Mathieu Palombino hinted that he was planning to open "the Motorino that I always wanted to open." Apparently his ideal pizzeria is actually a steakhouse, because it seems that's what he's planning to open in the ground floor of the Sunshine Hotel.
The Lo-Down took a look at the applications for tonight's CB3 meeting and discovered that Palombino and his business partner, Dimitri Vlahakis, are planning a 74-seat steakhouse at 241 Bowery that would occupy both the ground floor and two floors above. There's no viewable menu, but one assumes that the crowds from the New Museum next door will be happy to eat whatever Palombino's serving -- assuming he can persuade the board to grant him a license for a location that already has nine other licensed establishments within a one-block radius.
Whatever the case, at least he won't be calling the place S.R.O.
